No matter who you are or what your specific goals and reasons for seeking help, I believe everyone can benefit from the supportive, validating nature of therapy. Whether you’re hoping to build more effective coping skills, process past experiences, create more fulfilling interpersonal relationships, or better regulate distressing thoughts and feelings – I’m here to help.
I believe we can only be understood through all intersecting aspects of our identities, including our gender, race, class, sexual orientation, disability, age, and religion. I also believe that mental health can’t be understood without a consideration of the historical, political, economic, and social factors that influence us. As such, I recognize that you are the expert of your own life, while I’m here to work collaboratively with you to uncover your existing strengths, share in any pain you may be experiencing, add new meaning to your past and future experiences, and work on achieving your goals.
My lived experiences as an immigrant and woman of colour have always informed my work as a mental health professional. In fact, what I love most about being a therapist is being able to connect with people from all walks of life and to create a safe space for people to feel truly heard and supported (especially those that may have felt underrepresented or excluded from traditional healthcare services). This is why I strive to provide compassionate, non-judgmental care tailored to your unique needs. I do this by integrating various evidence-based approaches in my work while always remaining culturally sensitive and trauma informed.
Specifically, I have experience helping people with the following concerns:
- Love and romantic relationships
- Sexual concerns
- Interpersonal difficulties
- Life transitions
- Student/school stress
- Workplace issues
- Racial/cultural identity
- Emotional disturbances
And I have been trained in and typically provide therapy using the following approaches:
- Cognitive behavioural therapy
- Emotion focused therapy
- Narrative therapy
- Sex therapy
- Acceptance and commitment therapy
- Solution-focused brief therapy
Finding the right therapist can be intimidating, but very worthwhile given that a strong client-therapist relationship is one of the most important components of successful therapy.
