About…

Sometimes It Is Difficult to Explain What Is Wrong
You may come to therapy because anxiety has become exhausting, depression has taken away some of your energy or interest in life, or a relationship pattern keeps repeating despite your efforts to change it. At other times, life may look fine from the outside, yet something inside feels disconnected, lonely, or difficult to put into words.

You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. We can start by becoming curious about what you are experiencing and what it may mean.

About Me
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and MA in Counselling Psychology student practising under clinical supervision. I bring ten years of psychotherapy experience, including extensive work with adults in the Chinese-speaking community.

My professional development has included substantial training in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, ongoing clinical supervision, and my own long-term psychoanalytic therapy. These experiences have deeply shaped how I understand emotional change, vulnerability, and the therapeutic relationship.

Who I Work With
I provide individual therapy for young adults, adults, and older adults of all genders and cultural backgrounds.

I particularly welcome people experiencing:

  • Anxiety and chronic worry
  • Depression, low mood, or loss of motivation
  • Relationship difficulties and recurring relationship patterns
  • Life transitions and uncertainty
  • Identity and self-understanding
  • Loneliness and disconnection
  • Immigration and cross-cultural adjustment
  • Intimacy and sexual concerns
  • Questions of belonging, meaning, and direction in life

As a bilingual therapist offering therapy in English and Mandarin, I am particularly attentive to the ways language, culture, migration, family expectations, and different social worlds can shape how we experience ourselves and our relationships.

How I Work
My primary approach is psychodynamic and relational psychotherapy.

Rather than focusing only on reducing symptoms or offering quick solutions, we may explore:

  • what you are feeling, including emotions that are difficult to name;
  • patterns that repeatedly emerge in your relationships;
  • how earlier experiences may continue to influence your present life;
  • conflicts between what you want, what others expect, and what feels possible;
  • ways of relating to yourself and others that may once have been necessary but no longer serve you.

My style is reflective, collaborative, and grounded in careful listening. I will not rush to tell you what you should think, feel, or become. Instead, we work together to understand your experience more fully and create room for greater awareness, flexibility, and choice.

Longer-Term and Focused Therapy
Longer-term psychodynamic psychotherapy is a particular interest of mine. It can provide time to understand recurring emotional and relational patterns at greater depth, especially when difficulties have developed over many years or are difficult to explain in simple terms.

I am also open to focused, shorter-term psychodynamic therapy when you have a more specific concern or when a time-limited approach better fits your circumstances and goals.

What Might Therapy Feel Like?
Clients have often described feeling understood, seeing familiar experiences from a different perspective, and gradually noticing that they feel less anxious or more able to engage with their lives.

Change in psychodynamic therapy is not always dramatic or immediate. Sometimes it begins quietly—with recognizing a pattern, finding words for an experience, responding differently in a relationship, or discovering that something that once felt inevitable no longer has quite the same hold.

For me, therapy is not about telling you who you should become. It is about creating a relationship in which you can understand yourself more deeply and discover what becomes possible from there.
