It is not uncommon to feel disconnected from the people you love when life turns upside down. When we experience turmoil or when thoughts become cyclical, it’s nearly impossible to live authentically or to even know what authentic is in that moment. It can feel like a roller coaster that you aren’t sure how to disembark or as if you’re living in a body that isn’t yours. We might experience the hurt alone but we don’t have to manage it alone. Allow me to be your ally, your confidante, your listener.
I’m Alexis, I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and, on the side, I am a practitioner and teacher of yoga. One definition of yoga is self-study, and by immersing myself in this form of practice I have found a great love in connection of mind and body. When working with me you’ll be invited to neutrally observe the way you do things and how things might show up in your physical form.
I take a trauma-informed and client-centered approach when working with all of my clients to encourage an empowered experience and a collaborative process. I pull from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness-Based approaches. Common concerns I work with are stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, life transitions and perinatal/postpartum struggles. My hope is to help you decide what holds value for you, to re-familiarize yourself with what makes you who you are, and to improve connection with your body. I know that the first step can be one of the most challenging and I am here to support you the best that I can. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we are a good fit. Please reach out if you feel pulled to do so and I look forward to connecting.
