(they/them)
I believe that encountering painful moments and periods of hardship is inevitable and can bring us into contact with the most fundamental parts of ourselves. Instead of avoiding these experiences, I am interested in working with you to explore them with curiosity and self-compassion.
- My style is relational, holistic, client-centered, and trauma-informed. I take a curious, compassionate, and often playful approach that centres safety, connection, respect, and choice.
- I draw on various therapeutic modalities based on what a client is comfortable with and interested in, integrating principles and techniques from psychodynamic theory, emotion-focused therapy (EFT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, attachment theory, and mindfulness practices.
- Some common concerns I may work with: stress and anxiety, emotion dysregulation, trauma (including vicarious trauma), navigating interpersonal relationships and conflict, gender and sexuality identification, and life transitions (relationships, home, work, school, loss, etc.). If you are not sure what your concerns are, we can collaboratively explore together.
- My work is influenced by my own commitment to and participation in social justice and queer/2SLGBTQ+ communities and is grounded in anti-oppressive and transformative justice politics (including anti-racist, decolonial, disability justice, sex positive, and body liberationist principles). I am comfortable with a wide variety of ways of being, values, and relationship styles, including kink and poly.
My lived experience as a trans and non-binary person informs the importance I place on the therapeutic space as a site of empowerment and non-judgment, where individuals can feel safe to be witnessed in all their complexity.
