As a registered art therapist for over 30 years, I provide safe, sustainable, private therapy to a wide variety of clients. Sessions are 75 minutes, as I find that most effective. I work individually with both children and adults on issues including personal development, sexual abuse, abandonment, grief, anxiety, addiction, and depression.
My fee structure includes a sliding scale based on need, so feel free to ask about that. I graduated from the post graduate program at the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute, and have created a private practice that reflects my own values and style of working. Most of my clients engage in an individual, long term process of healing, using art-making, dreams, family-of-origin work, and a connection to their sense of journey. I draw on many theoretical models, including Gestalt, Jung, narrative, inner child, D.W. Winnecott, mindfulness and attachment.
I have taught at the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute and the at the Adlerian School for Professional Psychology, and have led art therapy groups at the Orchard Recovery Centre on Bowen Island. I was also a co-founder of the art therapy program at the Aboriginal Head-start Preschool in East Vancouver. Both my own therapy and my post-graduate thesis involved extensive dream work, so when appropriate sessions include exploration of the client’s relationship to their dreams.
My clients, about half of whom are men, come to therapy for a variety of reasons. Please explore my website, www.vancouverarttherapy.com, for much more information!
