In 1995, my family and I immigrated to Calgary in search of a brighter future amid uncertainty in Hong Kong. My parents worked multiple jobs while pursuing continuing education, and through their resilience, they now enjoy a well-earned retirement. Witnessing their journey inspired my passion for supporting newcomers facing similar hurdles.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a concentration in Ethnicity, Immigration, and Multiculturalism from the University of Calgary, where I explored how cultural norms shape individuals and how I could make a meaningful impact at both micro and macro levels.
Upon graduation, I spent seven years as a Human Resources professional, recruiting and supporting foreign workers. My goal was to ensure a fair and safe work environment, empowering them to build successful lives in Canada. As my personal life evolved and I started a family, I transitioned into career advising, where I helped internationally trained doctors navigate licensing and employment in Canada.
Through this work, I realized that organizational support alone wasn’t enough. To truly thrive, individuals must also look inward—recognizing their strengths, overcoming mental barriers, and fostering emotional well-being. This realization led me to pursue a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and obtain my Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) credential through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) through College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
Today, I specialize in helping second-generation and 1.5-generation immigrants navigate stress, cultural identity, and personal growth. Fluent in Cantonese with a basic understanding of Mandarin, I am committed to providing a safe, culturally responsive space where individuals can explore their emotions and build fulfilling lives. I look forward to connecting with you and learning from your unique strengths and values.
