Gabrielle (Brie) DeMone

Using a strengths-based, client-centred approach, I offer individual counselling and small group counselling services. I tailor my counselling services to your needs and will discuss various evidenced based care options with you for you to choose from. Whether you are coping with a stressful situation, feel anxious or sad, coming to terms with some past experiences or just looking for an understanding and non-judgmental ear, I am trained to help you address what is most important to you.

I believe that life circumstances and our experiences can lead us to develop coping strategies which can get in the way of achieving our goals or living the kind of life we would wish for ourselves. I aim to provide my clients with a safe, welcoming and empathetic space where coping strategies that aren’t working can be explored and better understood, where motivation for new coping strategies can build, and new strategies can be developed and implemented.

I believe that my clients are the experts in themselves and what will work best for them. For that reason, I offer my clients a range of therapeutic modalities and use an integrative therapeutic approach drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, solution focused therapy, client-centred therapy, mindfulness, narrative therapy, psychodynamic theories, and complicated grief and prolonged exposure protocols. I believe in evidenced-informed practice and engaging and empowering my clients at all stages of the therapeutic process. I see myself as a guide along your path to wellness, offering you tools to support your journey.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist and an Abused Women and Children’s Counsellor/Advocate. Through mindful, psychodynamic, trauma informed, client focused talk therapy, I foster my clients’ self- healing and allow opportunities for introspection and exploration of issues that may be causing pain, including the impact past traumas may be having in current day life.

My practice is culturally informed and includes a diversity of clients ranging in age from youth to adulthood. As a queer identified therapist my practice is sensitive to all LGBTTQQIAAP clients and their issues/concerns/needs. I see my clients as their own teachers who, given the opportunity to be in an objective and safe space, can self-realize and develop the strengths they need, to thrive and move toward self-actualization. Issues addressed include but are not exclusive to domestic violence, sexual abuse, depression, relationship struggles, anxiety, sexual & gender identity exploration/concerns.

I know it can be difficult to make that first call to ask for support, especially if you are isolated, afraid to disclose, or just in fear of being judged. Please reach out, I assure you our initial consultation, and continuing sessions, should you choose, will be non- judgemental, supportive and as safe as I can possibly make them for you.
