Life is beautiful, but it comes with pain. I believe our role here on earth is to become the highest version of ourselves and we all hold the means to do so. I always tell myself, “It’s okay, this is your first time here. Take it slow. You are not supposed to be perfect, you are learning everything for the first time”. Sometimes things happen that don’t make any sense and we as humans can find it difficult to rationalize why we face certain challenges, or how to overcome them.

I am a strong believer that we are lifelong learners and sometimes we learn best by building connections with others, in this case, me, your therapist. By working together in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space, we can explore absolutely anything and everything that is on your mind. Together we can help bring you closer to the highest, most healed version of yourself.   I favour an integrative approach to therapy, where we can pick and choose pieces of certain theories and practices that fit best to your needs.

I take a trauma-informed, and culturally informed stance in my practice to ensure your comfort and understanding. I like to incorporate Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Narrative therapy and pull on your strengths to make meaningful changes.

A little bit about me: I am a second-generation Macedonian (a tiny little country in the heart of Southeastern Europe). I have years of experience researching vulnerable populations and working with people from diverse communities. I am a foodie, I love my friends and I have two Bengal cats. Currently, I’m learning Spanish by watching movies and listening to podcasts. I own a small anime candle business and its super fun to do as a side hustle!

Life can be difficult and quite overwhelming at times. You may be feeling “stuck” in a particular situation, experienced a traumatic event, lacking motivation or confidence, suffering from depression and/or anxiety, or feeling disconnected from others. If any of these situations sound familiar to you, know that you are not alone.

As your therapist, my role is to be your greatest ally. I offer a safe, empathic, compassionate, collaborative, and non-judgmental space to clients who are determined to work through and overcome life’s many barriers and challenges. We will embark on a journey of self-discovery and self-healing to empower you to navigate through life with resilience. My passion is to help individuals understand and address their personal challenges, such as stress, interpersonal relationship, anxiety, trauma, grief, and depression issues.

My approach is client-centred, and I utilize a combination of techniques from different modalities to best meet the unique needs of the individual client. The therapeutic approaches I prefer are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). I teach various self-awareness and communication skills to assist in personal development and help foster healthy relationships.

It is not uncommon to feel disconnected from the people you love and trust when life turns upside down. When we experience turmoil or when thoughts become cyclical, it’s nearly impossible to live authentically or to even know what authentic is in that moment. It can feel like a roller coaster that you aren’t sure how to disembark or as if you’re living in a body that isn’t yours. We might experience the hurt alone but we don’t have to manage it alone. Allow me to be your ally, your confidante, your listener.

I’m Alexis, I am a Registered Psychotherapist (qualifying) and, on the side, I am a practitioner and teacher of yoga. One definition of yoga is self-study, and by immersing myself in this form of practice I have found a great love in connection of mind and body. When working with me you will be invited to neutrally observe the way you do things and how things might show up in your physical form.

I take a trauma-informed, client-centered and mindfulness-based approach when working with all of my clients to encourage an empowered experience and a collaborative process. My hope is to help you decide what holds value for you, to re-familiarize yourself with what makes you who you are, and to improve connection with your body. I know that the first step can be one of the most challenging and I am here to support you the best that I can. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we are a good fit. Please reach out if you feel pulled to do so and I look forward to connecting.
